Mission

My mission with this year, is to prove a couple of things.

1.) 1:1 computing and sophisticated use of social networking in learning is possible schools located in exploited communities (what other folks call "inner-city schools").

2.) This can all be done for very cheap, resulting in exponential learning value for very little investment.

3.) We need a better network of geeks dedicated to schools located in economically exploited areas. Wifi (mesh or otherwise) and 1:1 technology (whether we build new devices, refurbish old ones, or engage with gadgets our students already own fro home) are human rights, not privileges. The open source community can build the network we need to empower our students. (for a lucid apology for such a geek network, look here: http://education.change.org/blog/view/go_geek)

4.) That my students are super smart, super creative, and can produce exceptional work in Spanish, with computers. On the flipside, this goal is not unrelated to our other goal, to communicate better with the world.

These goals will probably change, and I look forward to hearing from everyone about where our focus can be.
